Funding your postgaduate studies
Explore the range of funding options available for postgraduate students, from government funded loans to scholarships, bursaries and third-party loans.

UK Government support
You may be eligible for postgraduate loan funding from the UK Government via Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, or Student Award Agency Scotland.
This can provide funding support towards the cost of your postgraduate programme and differs depending on where you reside in the UK.
If you live in England
If your postgraduate course starts on or after 1 August 2025, you may be eligible to receive a postgraduate master’s loan of up to £12,858 through Student Finance England.

If you live in Wales
If your course starts on or after 1 August 2025, you may be eligible for a combination of loan and grant with a maximum of £19,255 depending on your household income.
The following courses are eligible:
Law Conversion Course (Master's)
LLM Law Conversion with SQE1
Barrister Training Course (Master's)
BTC with Professional Legal Studies (Master’s)
LLM SQE1&2
Master of Laws LLM
LLM International Business and Commercial Law
If you live in Scotland
If your course starts on or after 1 August 2025, you may be eligible for a tuition fee loan of up to £7,000 for full-time postgraduate courses. Eligible students can also apply for a living-cost loan of up to £6,900. For the 2024/25 academic year, the amount of loan you are entitled to will include a £2,400 Special Support Loan.
