Apprenticeship overview
BPP’s Level 6 Graduate Legal Apprenticeship (Chartered Legal Executive) will build on your existing legal knowledge and skills, enabling you to gain further understanding and professional expertise to pursue and sustain a career as a law practitioner.
This practice-focused programme combines academic modules with continuous and embedded development of the skills and attributes required by the legal profession. Supported by a BPP Coach, you will build a portfolio aligned to one of the CILEx specialist pathways.
If you also wish to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), you will be able to access top-up resources and practice papers.
We also offer an extended programme, which includes our Law Starter Course, designed for those who need to refresh their law knowledge before commencing legal practice modules.
Who is this programme for?
This programme is suited to learners employed in a junior role within a legal team. You’ll gain the experience within the practice areas aligned to your chosen specialist pathway: civil litigation, criminal litigation, business, conveyancing or probate.
The Level 6 Graduate Legal Apprenticeship (CLE) would suit roles such as:

Where will the programme take you?
On successful completion of the programme, you’ll be able to apply to CILEx Regulation to become a Chartered Legal Executive in one of five specialist pathways: civil litigation, criminal litigation, business, probate or conveyancing.
Who's eligible?
To apply for this programme, you must be employed as an apprentice in a relevant role and meet the following requirements:
Five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English language and maths, or a pass on the BPP Admissions Test; plus
A 2:2 English law degree covering the foundational legal subjects (contract, tort, public, criminal, trusts and land), completed within the last five years; or
A 2:2 non-law degree and a pass in a law conversion course covering the foundational legal subjects (contract, tort, public, criminal, trusts and land), completed within the last five years
