Employment Law Telephone Advice Line (ELTAL)
BPP University Law School Pro Bono Centre runs an employment law telephone advice line service (ELTAL). ELTAL is a free service which provides employment law advice to members of the public who have an employment problem for example, they have been dismissed or they would like advice on raising a grievance against their employer.
The telephone lines are based at our London, Leeds and Manchester sites. In each location, student volunteer assistants work together with volunteer employment solicitors to provide members of the public with initial advice over the telephone on employment law issues.
Members of the public phone the number at BPP where a message will ask them to leave their name, phone number and brief details of their employment law query. A volunteer student calls the individual and completes an information sheet. The students are not authorised, nor qualified, to give any legal advice. The information sheet is then sent to a volunteer lawyer on a rota basis who calls the individual on a Tuesday evening between 6.30pm and 8pm to give advice.
