Changes to Level 7 Apprenticeship Funding
From 1 January 2026, the government will implement changes to the funding of Level 7 apprenticeships in England.
What is changing?
For apprentices starting on or after 1 January 2026
Government funding will continue for new Level 7 apprentices starting who are:
Aged 16 to 21, or
Under 25 and either a care leaver or have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) at the start of their apprenticeship.
Government funding will be removed for Level 7 apprentices aged 22 and older.
For apprentices starting their programme on or before 31 December 2025
Current apprentices, as well as those who begin their programme before this date, will remain fully funded through to completion under the existing funding arrangements.
Our recommendations
We strongly encourage all eligible learners to enrol on a Level 7 apprenticeship before 31 December 2025 to take full advantage of the current funding support.
Many Level 7 apprenticeship courses are available for immediate enrolment, with start dates running through to the end of December. Demand is expected to be high, so we recommend enrolling early to secure a place and avoid disappointment.
We will continue to deliver existing Level 7 programmes to eligible learners beyond January 2026, based upon market demand.
