Our Pathway to Higher Education Certificate in Accounting will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to start your Accounting and Finance degree at BPP University. This includes improving your written academic and business English together with study, presentation and communication skills.

It will give you a valuable grounding in accounting principles and quantitative techniques for business decision-making. We also offer an online study mode to enable students to benefit from flexible study, without compromising on the quality of their learning.

The Pathway to Higher Education Certificate in Accounting gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to make the most of your future undergraduate degree at BPP University. This includes improving written academic and business grammar, and improving your key study, presentation and communication skills.

It's aimed primarily at future accounting students, you will also gain a valuable grounding in accounting principles and in quantitative techniques for business decision making.

This programme is a full-time programme run over one term if studied in the classroom, or two terms part-time if studied online via distance learning.

Classroom

At BPP University, you will find all teaching to be practically-focused. There are plenty of face-to-face classes with your tutor (16 hours a week) through small group workshops. You will also have extensive support and feedback to make sure you fully understand each module and how you will be assessed.

Outside the classes, you will be expected to do additional self-study, analysing and applying new skills. To help you get the best learning experience, we provide comfortable facilities and the latest technology. This includes BPP University's Virtual Learning Environment, our student intranet, which features a variety of resources and revision aids, including interactive modules, podcasts, videos and multiple-choice tests.

If you ever have questions after seminars, or if you're finding a subject difficult, support is always available from your subject tutors, your allocated personal tutor and Student Advisors.

Online

As this is an online programme you are expected to study at your own pace. To help you achieve this, you'll have access to BPP University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you will find all the study materials available 24/7.

You will have regular progress reviews with your personal or programme tutor. These meetings enable you to monitor your personal and academic progress and to receive support if you have difficulties.

You will receive additional personal support from your Personal Tutor and if you ever have questions after classes, or if you're finding a subject difficult, support is available from your subject tutors and your allocated personal tutor.

  • Numeracy and Data Analysis (20 Credits)
  • Introduction to Accounting (20 Credits)

Entry requirements

Face-to-face study at our Shepherd’s Bush centre

You must be 18 years or over on commencement of the programme and have completed a minimum of 12 years of schooling with evidence of good grades

Online Distance Learning study

You must be 18 years or over on commencement of the programme and be able to demonstrate good grades in your +10 year qualifications, including Maths and English to C grade. However every application is taken on its own merit so we do encourage you to apply

At BPP University we are committed to you being successful in your studies. As part of your application you will be asked to undertake and experience a sample online lesson and write about your experience – we ask you to do this so you are happy with the online learning style and understand the level of commitment required to be successful. We would also like to talk to you over the phone so that you are aware of what is expected of you.

Teaching beyond coursework

At BPP University, we have a dedicated Careers Service in place to give students an ‘edge’. This comes in the form of professional support and guidance given in a range of ways. Which together ensure you have a rounded and professional approach to finding and securing a graduate role when you finish your studies.

The Careers Service provides one-to-one consultations, mock interviews and career events. You can even receive advice on preparing your all-important CV, filling in application forms and essential interview techniques.

Just as importantly, you are also offered ‘Career Ready Skills’ workshops throughout the year. Developed with employers, these have been identified as the skills critical to the success of organisations and cover areas as diverse as negotiation and presentation techniques to time management.

It’s never too early to start learning all the essential skills you’ll need to get a job, which is why you can begin taking advantage of our careers services as soon as you have accepted a place at BPP University. And continue to access the Careers Service for 12 months after you leave.

Your student experience

To help you make the most of your time at university, there is a Students’ Association which offers a number of exciting opportunities to socialise, develop your skills and enhance your CV. You can look forward to lots of student-led events all year round wherever you choose to study. What’s more, thanks to the wide range of student clubs and societies on offer, catering for all interests and backgrounds, there’s something for everyone.

Every student of BPP University automatically becomes a member of the Students' Association when they start their programme. The Association aims to put you, the student, at the heart of everything BPP University does, giving you:

Paying for your programme

The fees for the Pathway to Higher Education Certificate in Accounting programme are £500.

This payment is credited against your first year's fees once you progress to the relevant BSc programme.

If you are a non-EEA international student please apply for the International Foundation Certificate in Business Management.
