English for Finance Professionals

Our English for Finance Professionals programme has been designed to give you the opportunity to gain the English language requirements needed to join either the Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance [ACCA route] or the MSc Accounting and Finance [Advanced Diploma route] programme.

If successful in this programme you will be able to progress directly onto your chosen course.

Teaching methods

This programme provides 20 hours face-to-face tuition, including breaks, in the first four weeks of study, to provide a positive and supportive learning experience. We want you to have as much contact time with your tutor as possible, this is why we offer small group workshops throughout the first week of the programme. Classes will typically comprise of between 15 to 25 students per class.

The remainder of the programme will be studied online for eight weeks alongside your accounting programme. You will have access to BPP University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you will find all the study materials available 24/7. Learning will be delivered through a series of live webinars supported by discussed with peers through the online forums.

You will have regular progress reviews with your personal or programme tutor. These meetings enable you to monitor your personal and academic progress and to receive support if you have difficulties.

The course has been designed with a financial context in mind, providing you with knowledge of accounting terminology and study which will help you when you move onto your chosen accountancy programme. You will practice key skills such as self-reflection and report writing in order to boost your confidence. We will prepare you for the next stage of your studies by working on improving your independent learning, cognitive abilities, knowledge and use of English for academic purposes and developing a professional attitude necessary for practice and the motivation to succeed.

English Language

5.5 IELTS or an equivalent score in the BPP University English test

Students will require access to sufficient bandwidth and regular internet access to be able to access the BPP University VLE, the online materials and email. These will contain all the relevant BPP University in-sessional online study materials, online classrooms and course management materials. Students must also have access to Chrome or Firefox internet browsers to be able to view materials on the VLE platform, Moodle.

Teaching beyond coursework

At BPP University, we have a dedicated Careers service in place to give students an 'edge'. This comes in the form of professional support and guidance given in a range of ways. This ensures you have a rounded and professional approach to finding and securing a graduate role when you finish your studies.

The Careers Service provides one-to-one consultations, mock interviews and career events. You can even receive advice on preparing your all-important CV, filling in application forms and essential interview techniques.

Just as importantly, you are offered 'Career-Ready Skills' workshops throughout the year. Developed with employers, the skills taught have been identified as those critical to the success of organisations and cover everything from negotiation and presentation techniques to time management.

It is never too early to start learning all the essential skills you will need to get a job, which is why you can begin taking advantage of our careers services as soon as you have accepted a place at BPP University. You then continue to have access to this Careers Service for 12 months after you leave.

Your student experience

BPP University Students' Association has thousands of members with students across all ten BPP University sites and studying online. Every student of BPP University automatically becomes a member of the Students' Association when they start their programme. The Association aims to put you, the student, at the heart of everything BPP University does, giving you:
