A Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions is perfect for students wishing to begin or progress in an existing career as a digital and technology solutions professional. This programme enables you to gain hands-on paid experience with an employer whilst working towards a full honours degree.

During the programme you will have the opportunity to choose from a range of elective modules in order to tailor your degree to meet your career aspirations or the needs of your employer. Depending on the modules you choose, you can align your degree to one of six IT specialisms including: IT consulting, business analysis, cyber security, data analytics, software engineering and network engineering. On successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be fully prepared for the next stage in your IT career and equipped with the practical work experience to showcase your knowledge.

Modes of study

Our guided teaching is delivered through a mix of live webinars delivered by a BPP University tutor, recorded lectures and online learning material.

For students supplementing online delivery with face-to-face sessions, you will attend either a BPP University study centre or employer premises determined by your employer’s preference.

Work-based projects, coursework, written reports and assignments, e-portfolio and multiple-choice tests


*Students who wish to gain professional accreditation will need to take examinations set out by the relevant professional body either during the programme or after graduation. This is the student's responsibility and at the students own cost.

It brings together a range of digital and technology disciplines, with a balance of technical competence and intellectual and practical skills to support your career as a digital and technology solutions professional.

Job roles

To join this programme you must be in full-time employment with an employer who is offering Degree Apprenticeships with BPP University. Your role must be relevant to the programme and may include: software engineer, IT consultant, business analyst, cyber security analyst, data analyst or network engineer.

Designed with employers in mind

This degree apprenticeship programme has been designed to meet the Apprenticeship Standard, developed by a group of employers known as ‘Trailblazers’. These standards have been developed so you gain a highly relevant education: meeting the knowledge requirements and practical business needs of employers.

The Trailblazers involved in the design of this programme include: Accenture, BT Group, Capgemini, CGI Group, Ford, Fujitsu, GlaxoSmithKline, HMRC, Hewlett Packard, IBM, John Lewis, Lloyds Banking Group, Network Rail and Tata Consultancy Services.

Study designed around your work commitments

You will study around your work commitments and receive at least one day per week study leave from your employer. During your studies you will learn from a mix of IT professionals and academics who will deliver a highly relevant programme through discussions, case studies and activities. During each lesson you will learn a range of key principles that you can apply and develop further in your workplace.

You will be part of a group of 25 students maximum and have the opportunity to enhance your professional network through discussions and online forums.

Working towards a professional qualification

This programme has been designed to give you the skills needed to work towards a range of professional qualifications. Our Project Management Fundamentals module prepares you for the PRINCE2 Foundation exam - either during your programme or after you graduate.

During the second and third terms of the programme you can also choose elective modules which will prepare you for prestigious professional qualifications including:

During your programme you will follow a broad curriculum that will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as a digital and technology solutions professional. You will get insight into different areas of technology and be able to apply this at work.

During stages 2 and 3 of your programme, you will have the opportunity to specialise your degree through a series of elective modules. With input from your employer, you can choose to study one of six pre-set paths that align to a specific role.

Study anytime and anywhere

Our guided teaching is delivered through a mix of live webinars delivered by a BPP University tutor, recorded lectures and online learning material. When you join your apprenticeship programme, you will gain access to BPP University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you will have 24/7 access to recorded lectures and the study resources you need, allowing you to study anytime and anywhere.

You will be placed into a cohort of students who you will study with using our VLE. You will have the opportunity to network with your peers through online forums and live discussions. In addition, each cohort is assigned its own student support and tutor, who will give you support and guidance through your programme.

Subject to agreement with your employer, supplement face to face induction sessions and masterclasses may be added to your programme.

Admission

If you wish to join the Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship you must be in full-time employment in a relevant and suitable role. You must also meet the minimum entry requirements shown below. However, employers may set their own entry criteria which are equivalent to or higher than the university entry criteria.

  • 104+ UCAS points and grade C GCSE English and Mathematics; OR
  • Completion of a level-3 apprenticeship/professional qualification in a relevant discipline; OR
  • Have a recognised and equivalent qualification (examinations and experience will be considered)

English language requirements

IELTS score of 6.0 (overall) or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in writing.

If you obtain a score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in any of the subcomponents you will have to attend In-sessional Study Skills Support classes alongside the programme during the first term of studies, at no additional cost.

Location

All our apprenticeships programmes are delivered through our VLE meaning you can study from wherever is most convenient to you and your employer. If your programme is supplanted by face-to-face sessions, these may be run in one of our business school locations or at your employer's premises depending upon your employer's preference.

Fees

The full cost of your Degree Apprenticeship programme will be funded by your employer.
