Degree Apprenticeships

Degree Apprenticeships are a new government-led initiative that will introduce UK higher education into the apprenticeship market for the first time. They are practical, vocational degree programmes which allow people to combine academic study with practical work experience and wider employability skills.

Each Degree Apprenticeship has been designed to meet the Apprenticeship Standard, developed by a group of employers known as ‘Trailblazers’. They are also eligible to receive government funding to cover up to two thirds of the cost. BPP University is one of the first higher education providers to offer the new Degree Apprenticeship programmes to organisations and learners.

Fees

Government funding policy for the Degree Apprenticeships means that, as the employer, you are responsible for paying for the formal training required in an apprenticeship programme. The full cost of the Degree Apprenticeship is £27,000.

Until April 2017 you may be entitled to government funding to cover up to two thirds of the cost of your Apprenticeship training. From April 2017 the approach to funding significantly changes, with the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy. Employers with pay bills of over £3 million, will be required to pay a levy which can only be reclaimed to fund Apprenticeship training. More information on the Apprenticeship Levy and what this means for your business you can download our Levy guide here: www.bpp.com/levy
