MSc Accounting and Finance [Advanced Diploma route]

Our MSc Accounting and Finance [Advanced Diploma route] is a unique programme which has been designed to provide you with the key knowledge and skills to enter a range of different careers in the fields of accountancy and finance.

This programme is unique in that it is aligned to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional accountancy qualification and includes both accounting and finance modules. This means you will exit with a broad understanding of the contemporary issues across the disciplines, helping to make you more employable.

During the first three terms you will study BPP University’s Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance [ACCA route] which is fully accredited by the ACCA and has been designed so that the nine modules of the Advanced Diploma align to the nine Fundamentals Level papers (F1 to F9). For each module successfully completed during the course, you will qualify for an exemption for the relevant paper from the ACCA*, as well as being awarded the Advanced Diploma on successful completion of all nine papers. During the next three terms you will study our MSc Accounting and Finance which has been designed so that you can study for and take ACCA Professional Level examinations either during, or after, the programme**.

Computer-based exams (CBEs) and paper-based examinations (written) depending on modules studied. At Masters level, assessments also include reports, group presentations and coursework.

Exemptions

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance [ACCA Route], studied in the first three terms, has been designed so that the nine modules of the Advanced Diploma each align to one of the nine Fundamentals Level papers (F1 to F9) of the ACCA professional accounting qualification. For each module successfully completed during the course, you will qualify for an exemption for the relevant paper from the ACCA. Upon completion of first three semesters of this programme you could be exempt from papers F1 to F9.

Please note: The Business Research Skills and Consultancy Project module will be run throughout the Masters programme with final submission at the end of term three.


Entry requirements

Educational background

Students wishing to apply for this programme will require:

  • Two A-levels and three GCSEs or equivalent (grade C or above) in five separate subjects, including Maths and English; OR
  • A Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) qualification (with which students will enter directly into term two); OR
  • Passes/exemptions in ACCA papers, which will allow students to enter the programme in either term two or term three depending on the number of papers completed.

If you do not think you meet the entry requirements, but have other qualifications or work experience, please contact us and we can review your options.

English Language Requirements

If your first language is not English and you do not hold an honours degree that was delivered in English, you will be required to provide certified proof of ability in written and spoken English to, at least, IELTS level 6.0 (overall) or equivalent in addition to the above entry requirements.

If you have the minimum overall IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent, you will be required to attend In-Sessional Academic Skills classes, alongside the programme during the first term of studies, at no additional cost.

If you meet the entry criteria but do not have the requisite English Language (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) we can offer you an extended diploma to include Pre-Sessional English.

Alternatively, if you have IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent), you may be eligible to join the English for Finance Professionals programme.

Teaching beyond coursework

At BPP University, we have a dedicated Careers Service in place to give students an ‘edge’. This comes in the form of professional support and guidance given in a range of ways. Which together ensure you have a rounded and professional approach to finding and securing a graduate role when you finish your studies.

The Careers Service provides one-to-one consultations, mock interviews and career events. You can even receive advice on preparing your all-important CV, filling in application forms and essential interview techniques.

Just as importantly, you are also offered ‘Career-Ready Skills’ workshops throughout the year. Developed with employers, these have been identified as the skills critical to the success of organisations and cover areas as diverse as negotiation and presentation techniques to time management.

It’s never too early to start learning all the essential skills you’ll need to get a job, which is why you can begin taking advantage of our careers services as soon as you have accepted a place at BPP University and continue to access the Careers Service for 12 months after you leave.
