Our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance [Top-up] programme enables you to build your existing accounting qualifications and/or experience into a valuable and recognised BSc Honours degree. It has been designed to provide you with a much deeper understanding of key accounting and finance principles alongside a range of career-ready skills. Upon successful completion you will be fully prepared to pursue a career in accounting and finance and able to apply key concepts at a professional level. Depending upon your choices of modules you may also apply for exemptions from seven ACCA Fundamentals Level Papers**.

Your Accounting and Finance top-up degree

The programme has been designed to prepare you for the accounting and finance profession combining technical competence and workplace skills. Accounting and finance is a broad sector and, through this programme, you will gain a better understanding of the different areas within it. You will be able to relate your strengths to the course content to see where you can excel.

You will broaden and strengthen the knowledge and experience gained from earlier studies at HND level, or via a recognised professional qualification, and have the chance to develop your general business knowledge. For the online programme you are expected to study at your own pace. To help you achieve this, you'll have access to BPP University's Virtual Learning Environment, where you will find all the study materials available 24/7.

ACCA Exemptions**

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional accounting qualification is globally-recognised. As an ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner, BPP University has strong links with the ACCA and offers a number of programmes to enable you to achieve your professional qualification. Our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance [Top-up] programme has been designed so that through a series of compulsory and elective modules you can apply for up to seven exemptions from the ACCA Fundamentals Papers accelerating your journey to becoming an ACCA Chartered Accountant.

Our Induction Programme

Before starting your first term you will take part in a two-week induction programme to prepare you for your studies with us and ensure you have everything you need to succeed.

This programme has a strong focus on the career-ready skills that employers expect such as communication, problem solving and leadership. Upon completion of the programme you will not only receive a valuable and recognised BSc Honours degree but you will also have the tools you need for a number of careers in business, accounting, audit, advisory and consulting. Alongside these, this programme will encourage you to develop as a leader through a range of presentations, simulations and group work.

Business Integration Project

The Business Integration Project gives you the opportunity to consolidate the key accounting and finance knowledge gained during your studies. Across the two modules you will pursue a business issue of interest and relevance to your career aspirations so you can create a practical solution. This project will improve your employability and provide the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the specific industry or market that you want to enter. This foundation can give you a significant advantage in interview situations.

Entry requirements

Admission to the programme requires completion and certification of one of the following qualifications:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (Papers F1-F9 – passes or exemptions)
  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance [ACCA Route]
  • Association of International Accountants (Professional Level 1)
  • Higher National Diploma in Business with Accounting (Scottish Qualifications Authority). (Admission to the programme requires successful completion and certification of this qualification, with the graded assessments at a minimum of Grade B)

English Language Requirements

If your first language is not English you will need an IELTS level 6.0 (overall) or equivalent, plus a minimum of 6.0 in writing in addition to the above entry requirements.

If you have the minimum overall IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent, you will be required to attend In-sessional Study Skills Support classes, alongside the programme during the first term of studies, at no additional cost.

Teaching beyond coursework

At BPP University, we have a dedicated Careers service in place to give students an ‘edge’. This comes in the form of professional support and guidance given in a range of ways. Which together ensure you have a rounded and professional approach to finding and securing a graduate role when you finish your studies.

The Careers Service provides one-to-one consultations, mock interviews and career events. You can even receive advice on preparing your all-important CV, filling in application forms and essential interview techniques.

Just as importantly, you are also offered ‘Career-Ready-Skills’ workshops throughout the year. Developed with employers, the skills taught have been identified as those critical to the success of organisations and cover everything from negotiation and presentation techniques to time management.

It’s never too early to start learning all the essential skills you’ll need to secure a position, which is why you can begin taking advantage of our careers services as soon as you have accepted a place at BPP University, and continue to access the Careers Service for 12 months after you leave.

Your student experience

BPP University Students' Association has thousands of members with students across all ten BPP University sites and studying online. Every student of BPP University automatically becomes a member of the Students' Association when they start their programme. In addition to your programme fees, there may be additional charges associated with your studies, which include:

  • Resit fees for exams £75
  • Resit fees to repeat a 15-credit module £400
  • Resit fees to repeat a 20-credit module £530
  • Resit fees to repeat a 30-credit module £800

Undergraduate Loans

UK students applying for our Undergraduate courses can apply for Tuition Fee Loans and Maintenance Loans to help cover the cost of tuition fees and living costs whilst studying (subject to eligibility). Tuition Fee Loans are also available for EU students.

You can apply for a tuition fee loan up to a maximum of £6,165 (full-time) or £4,625 (part-time) per academic year. For students from Northern Ireland, the maximum tuition fee loan available is £3,805 per academic year.

Students should note that from September 2017, BPP University's fee are above the maximum tuition loan available of £6,165 per year and students would therefore need to self-fund the difference. To find out more visit our undergraduate loans page

Please note - if at any point during your studies you change modes of study or the speed at which you complete your studies, we will be required to notify the Student Loans Company as this may have funding implications

For those who need it, BPP University’s Student Services support team can provide funding advice and assistance. This includes information on other options open to you, such as bursaries and grants from professional bodies, charities, employers and other institutions who give financial support. For instance, funding may be available through scholarships, interest-free payment plans, the Student Loans Company or Future Finance student loans*.
