In-sessional Academic English and Communications Skills
Our In-sessional English Language course is for BPP students from outside the UK who wish to improve their English while studying towards their undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Our course lasts 10 weeks and is completed alongside your degree studies – usually via three-hour evening sessions. It will help you develop a higher level of academic language skills that will spur you on to greater success in your course – and give you all the tools you need to get the most out of your time with BPP.

The BPP In-sessional Academic English Language and Communications Skills course is the perfect way to improve your knowledge of English alongside your BPP degree studies.
The course is open to all non-UK students who are currently studying a BPP undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. So if you feel you could benefit from extra English language coaching to maximise your BPP experience, then this is the course for you.

Dates and course duration
Our In-sessional English Language course lasts 10 weeks. For your convenience, it's designed as a series of three-hour evening classes that take place alongside your degree studies. This gives you an extensive opportunity to improve your knowledge of English and, in turn, your chances of career success.
There are three start dates throughout the year in:
- September
- January
- May
As well as pure language, the course will also provide you with the analytical and debating skills to exercise the English language in the classroom - and especially in relation to your chosen field of study.

This course is currently only available in London but will be also available in Manchester as of Sept 2012.Modules
Our In-sessional Academic English and Communication Skills course includes 10 weeks of evening classes. Each class lasts approximately three hours and takes place at the same time as your BPP degree studies.
This course offers you the chance to improve your knowledge and use of the English language, in order to improve your BPP degree prospects and give you a better opportunity of pursuing a top-class career following your studies. It also offers you extensive linguistic and technical expertise, for use specifically in your chosen field of study.
Module detail
This module will:
- provide you with essential skills for undertaking undergraduate academic study of business management or legal studies through the medium of English
- provide you with an opportunity to increase your knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary relevant to your chosen fields of university study and develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in the academic setting
- familiarise you with basic conventions of academic discussions – oral and written – and academic writing style
- enhance your analytical and debating skills
- provide you with presentation skills relevant to your academic studies, and particularly your chosen field of study
Entry requirements
To apply to study our In-sessional English language course, you need to be a student who requires 0.5 IELTS increase for entry onto BPP University College's Undergraduate programme.

Paying for your course
The In-sessional English Language course fee is free* for the first three hours per week of tuition in the first term. Should you require further English for Academic Purposes training this is available for £400 per term.
*NB A £100 deposit is required which is refundable on completion of 80% attendance (this is to ensure places are not kept open for non-attendees)
