Specialist law careers service

One-to-one advice from dedicated careers consultants

Our highly-trained consultants deliver the help that's right for you through one-to-one appointments and 'drop in' sessions during term time, as well as by phone and email.

All of this operates within flexible opening hours, including scheduled weekend and evening appointments for our part-time students - so we can fit around your schedule. Our experienced careers team can help you with:

  • applications for placements in law firms, barristers' chambers, companies or the not-for-profit sector
  • application reviews
  • researching firms and chambers
  • deciding if you want to become a solicitor or barrister
  • CVs and covering letters
  • preparing for interviews and assessment centre advice
  • mock interviews
  • advice on alternative careers.

You will never leave an advice session empty handed. Together, we'll draw up a career action plan which details the steps you should take to achieve your goals.

Mock interviews

We provide a thorough mock-interview service based on the firm or chambers where you have a training contract or pupillage interview coming up. We will ask you questions that we think are likely to come up in a 'real' interview - and then give you constructive feedback on your answers - as well as guidance on your interview technique. We will follow this up with an anonymous feedback questionnaire to help us maintain our database for students.

BPP Pro Bono Centre

Alongside the support we offer to help you secure work experience, training contracts and pupillages, we can also help you develop practical legal skills through 'pro bono' projects. These span a wide range of community and other not-for-profit organisations across the country.

Our award-winning Pro Bono Centre is a vital component of BPP Law School – helping you to benefit society – as well as your CV.

International lawyers

If you are a qualified lawyer in a country outside England and Wales you may be able to convert your qualification to English and Welsh law and practise as a solicitor in England and Wales. To find out more please see our Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT).
