QLTT

The Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT) is a conversion test that enables lawyers qualified in certain countries outside England and Wales, as well as UK barristers, to qualify as solicitors. In an increasingly competitive world, lawyers with a dual qualification will be able to offer a more comprehensive service to clients.
Academic queries - QLTT Clinic
To ensure a response to your academic query prior to the September Tests, candidates should submit their emails no later than Friday 29 August 2008.
Important: Changes to candidates' eligibility with effect from 1 September 2008
After a consultation process, the SRA has made its long-awaited announcement with regard to transferees' eligibility to qualify as solicitors of England & Wales via the QLTT route. With effect from 1 September 2008, transferees (with the exception of EU lawyers) must, in addition to demonstrating experience of working in a common law jurisdiction, have gained one year's experience in the law of England & Wales in either a firm or organisation regulated by the SRA or under the direct supervision of a solicitor qualified in England & Wales.
This new criteria will apply to all applications for certificates of eligibility received by the SRA on or after 1 September 2008.
Prospective candidates are therefore advised to apply for their certificate as soon as possible and, in any event, prior to 1 September 2008. Once granted, a certificate of eligibility is valid for 3 years.
