“I really enjoyed it and the approach of weekly 2 hour sessions helped build knowledge gradually rather than intense classroom days which is what I had experienced before.”

Andrew Dyson, JIEB Prize Winner 2016

The Exam

You can attempt two papers at one sitting, or split the papers over two years. From 2018 onwards, the exam board have confirmed the papers will be 3 ½ hours each and will be computer based. You can decide whether to sit only one paper in which case you are eligible for a licence for corporate or personal appointments respectively.

You will also need to satisfy the practical requirements of your Recognised Professional Body (RPB) or the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Industry (DETI). Requirements can differ, so it's important to look into these before you start your studies. For more information visit the JIEB website

“Various people I work with had done the exams and without exception they told me how terrifying it was, and how you would lose a year to studying but it would be worth it in the end.”

Vicky Ryan, JIEB Prize Winner 2016
