The BPP Professional Skills Course (PSC) is the final stage of your compulsory training to become a solicitor – preparing you for a smooth transition from academia to life in a legal firm. Complete your legal training with a PSC

With the BPP Professional Skills Course, flexibility is key when it comes to what, where and how you learn – allowing you to fit your studies around work and life commitments.

You can choose the fast track option and complete the core modules in succession – or stagger the core and elective modules throughout the two-year training period.

Fully flexible study

The BPP PSC is fully flexible. Choose from a wide range of modules in locations across the UK.

For example, if you're training with a firm in London, you could attend the fast-track core module course in January over eight days. Your 24 hour elective modules could then be completed within the same year – or whenever is convenient for you.

Higher Rights of Audience Option

As part of your elective requirements you can opt to study for the Higher Rights of Audience qualification. This will enable you to act as an advocate in the higher courts of England and Wales.

Practising advocates, solicitors and barristers provide the teaching for this option, drawing on their expertise and real-world experiences to equip you with practical skills and knowledge.

Our tutors are all experts or practitioners in their fields. They're dedicated to providing teaching that is practice focused – aimed at giving you the specialist skills and knowledge needed for a successful transition into real legal practice.

Modules

The Professional Skills Course (PSC) comprises three compulsory modules, each with eight- or nine-day fast-track options throughout the year. The BPP PSC offers an extensive range of elective modules – all of which can be booked individually. This means you can match your electives to fit with your areas of interest or career direction.  
 
You must study all three core modules and a further 24 hours of electives.

PSC compulsory core modules

The following modules are compulsory:
  • Client Care and Professional Standards (two days) – including a non-examinable online module
  • Financial and Business Skills course and exam (three days) – including a non-examinable online module
  • Advocacy and Communication Skills (three days)

Flexible learning

Our Professional Skills Course offers you the freedom to study in the way that is most convenient and effective for you. Choose from classroom-based learning at one of our UK centres – either module by module or as a fast-track option.

You can also study for the PSC in house with your firm.

The Professional Skills Course (PSC) must be completed as part of your compulsory training, during your training contract.
