MSc Management

Our MSc Management programme provides you with the skills you need to manage effectively in business. It also gives you the opportunity to tailor your degree in specialist areas such as Finance or Project Management. This programme is ideal if you are a graduate or professional, in any field, looking to work as a manager. You can also apply for our 18 month programme which includes our Professional Development and Practice (PDP) module**, providing you with an opportunity to complete your Master's programme with up to six months work experience.

Specialise your degree

This programme offers 3 different streams that allow you to specialise your degree. Once qualified, you will have the confidence to apply your highly relevant knowledge and skills to a wide range of managerial challenges.

In term one there are 4 modules common to all programmes which will equip you with the knowledge and skills that are fundamental to management practice, including:

  • Leading Business Organisations
  • Operations Management & Service Excellence

These are followed by a series of modules tailored to your chosen stream, offering you the opportunity to focus your learning in specialised areas, in line with your interests and career aspirations.

Professional Development & Practice (PDP) module*

Our Professional Development and Practice module is designed to enhance your employability by developing your career ready and transferable skills. This module is a feature of the 18-month full-time MSc Management, MSc Management with Finance or MSc Management with Project Management programmes. It gives you the opportunity to complete your programme with practical work experience. This work experience can be a paid or unpaid job, short-term internship, employer-led or Professional Body project, consultancy work or volunteering.

Study Mode

Our MSc Management programme is geared towards the realities of working as a modern manager and our face-to-face delivery consists of a highly effective combination of lectures, small group sessions and blended learning opportunities. The small group sessions have a strong emphasis on contextual student learning, involving practical skills sessions to prepare you for what it is really like to work in management settings whilst facing managerial challenges.

In a typical week you can expect 3 hours of lectures and small group seminar/workshops for each 15-credit module, in addition to any support classes that you may be enrolled to. You will also find further support at your fingertips through the Business School's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). You will work alongside people from diverse backgrounds, including experienced industry professionals, all within a business-orientated environment.

Develop your Professional Skills

We focus on developing your professional skills so you can transfer management concepts into real life. A wide variety of activities are used to support your learning, including:

  • Interactive lectures
  • Video and written case studies
  • Individual and group exercises
  • Presentations by visiting experts
  • Engagement with a range of professional and academic materials
  • Management skills sessions, including presentations, board room discussions and simulations

Assessment

You will be assessed using a combination of coursework, group assignments, timed release assessments and supervised projects. Your programme materials will include formative assessments and revision packs to fully prepare you. You will also get feedback throughout the programme to help you realise your full potential.

Additional qualifications

On successful completion of BPP's MSc Management you will also receive a professional qualification - CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 7 Certificate.

Professional Development and Practice (PDP) module*

Our Professional Development and Practice (PDP) module is designed to enhance your employability by developing your career ready and transferable skills. This module is a feature of the 18-month full-time programme. It gives you the opportunity to complete your Master’s with practical work experience. This work experience can be a paid or unpaid job, short-term internship, employer-led or Professional Body project, consultancy work or volunteering.


Educational background

Students wishing to study the MSc Management will require:

  • A minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree from a UK or recognised international university or another equivalent international qualification; or
  • An acceptable professional qualification equivalent such as the CMI, ILM, CIM, CIMA at level 6 or above;

Following a review of applications, candidates may be required to:

  • Attend an interview (via Skype, WebEx or face-to-face)
  • Take part in a telephone interview
  • Submit a Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score of 580 or above
  • Submit a Graduate Records Examination (GRE) of 500 for Verbal and 500 for Quantitative. The median GRE score for each section ranges from 550-625 per section, with the median total around 1200

English Language

If your first language is not English you will need an IELTS level 6.5 (overall) or equivalent, plus a minimum of 6.0 in all components in addition to the above entry requirements.

If you have the minimum of 6.0 in any component, you will be required to attend In-sessional Study Skills Support classes, alongside the programme during the first term of studies, at no additional cost.

A deposit of £250 will need to be paid within 48 hours of accepting your offer, in order to secure your place.

Postgraduate Loans

Postgraduate Loans will be available for eligible Master's courses commencing from September 2016 (subject to eligibility). You can apply for a loan of up to £10,000, towards your course and living costs.
