How the MSc is taught

Our Masters in Project Management covers the full spectrum of project management processes, from project conception to Post-Implementation Review and beyond. You'll benefit from a combination of comprehensive, practitioner-focussed content and progressive academic theory, which will give you all the skills you need to become a highly effective and successful project manager.

You'll be assessed with a mix of individual and team assignments, delivered in three stages - including the final stage which involves a postgraduate project.

Teaching is delivered via lectures, small group sessions and online learning. Further support is available through our Virtual Learning Environment.

How the MSc is structured

Your MSc Project Management degree studies are split into three stages. Following successful completion of each stage, you will be awarded a certain number of course credits.

If you choose not to complete the whole MSc, you can still obtain either a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management after successfully passing the first 60 or 120 credits.

Teaching is delivered through a combination of lectures, small group sessions and online learning. Many classes also include hands-on, practical skills sessions, to prepare you for the realities of life in a project management role.

How the MSc Project Management is assessed

Your MSc Project Management degree will be assessed on a module-by-module basis, using a combination of coursework, 'closed-book' examinations and online learning.

These tests will encourage managerial skills and focus on your ability to find intellectual and practical solutions to real problems. They are intended to mirror the actual project management environment as closely as possible. Formal and informal feedback will be provided to you on an ongoing basis, to ensure your continuous improvement and to maximise your potential.


Modules

The MSc Project Management is split into three key stages:

 

  • Stage One equips you with the knowledge and skills fundamental to assure given interrelated knowledge to bring Project Management development into practice.
  • Stage Two examines the complexities of business processes and project management within uncertain and dynamic environments. It develops you to a level, in light of diverse and often conflicting perspectives on management issues, to synthesise and originate novel solutions.
  • The final Stage Three takes a more forward-looking, scientific approach to strategy, change and managing projects, critically examining how to add value to businesses,requiring a future direction and a risk aware approach to the issues presented.

If for any reason you choose not to complete the entire MSc, our three-tiered award system means that you can still obtain a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, provided you pass the first 60 or 120 programme credits.

To apply to study our MSc Project Management course, you'll need to be a current or aspiring project manager.

How to apply

To apply for a place on the MSc Project Management course, you'll need to complete a BPP application form. Whilst there are no formal deadlines, we recommend you apply as soon as you are ready.

You must also meet one of the following minimum admission requirements:

  • A 2:1 Honours degree from a recognised university or the equivalent international qualification
  • An acceptable professional qualification
  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience
