How the course is taught
Our International Pre-Masters Diploma in Legal Studies includes a balanced combination of face-to-face tuition supported by seminars and workshops that provide you with maximum academic benefit.
Throughout your studies you'll receive a full 15 hours of direct student-tutor contact time per week, all of which will be centred on your needs and delivered as fully-interactive group sessions. Seminars will focus on a variety of principles and techniques that are relevant to your learning, and these will be complimented by workshops which will explore specific subjects in more depth.
Regular progress reviews will also take place, to ensure that you are always getting as much as you can out of your course.
Study programme
You will study our International Pre-Masters Diploma in Legal Studies course full-time, over two terms. Our flexible study programme gives you the freedom to choose whether to begin your programme in September, January or May.
The Diploma is made up of four separate modules, each of which is worth an equal amount of course credits.
Our combined learning approach incorporates classroom-based tutorials, seminars and workshops and gives you the opportunity to apply your learning from day one, in your pursuit of a legal career at the very highest level.
How you'll be assessed
You will be assessed on each module in a variety of ways – through coursework, seen and unseen assessments, exams and group presentations.
Modules
Our International Diploma is structured into four separate modules, each carrying an equal weighting of course credits.
English Language and Communication Skills (30 credits)
The module will provide you with essential skills for undertaking postgraduate academic study of business, management or law through the medium of English within the context of British universities. You will be offered the chance to improve your command of English overall and in the academic setting specifically. This will be done through progressive practice and enhancement of your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills relevant to the fields of business management and/or legal studies.
English Legal System and Contract Law (15 credits)
Steeped in history and developed over centuries the English legal system (‘ELS’) is one of the oldest in the world. In this module you will explore the history of the ELS and see how the court system has developed to the modern day. As well as the courts, you will also explore the building blocks of the ELS: statute law and case law.
Diploma Project and Report (Law-based) (15 credits)
This module is the consolidation of all your learning on the programme and your opportunity to prove that you have the commercial and business acumen needed to succeed. This module involves undertaking a practical project underpinned with sound academic principles that identifies and addresses a business problem or opportunity. The outcome of your endeavours will lead to a value adding, practical business solution during which you will be able to demonstrate your professional credibility. Please note: you will need to complete your course dissertation on an agreed, law-based topic.
Law of Equity and Trusts (15 credits)

The module is designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of equity, the concept of the trust and their practical relevance. You will study both traditional deed-created trusts and the evolving role of equity and trusts in the commercial context.
The focus of the module is the practical application of this topic to real life scenarios. You will learn how to analyse problems and offer advice on complex legal principles, taking into account commercial factors as well as the relevant legal principles.
This is intended to aid the transition to the professional programmes by giving you greater commercial awareness and ultimately to enhance your prospects in professional legal practice.

Entry requirements
To be eligible to apply for a place on our Pre-Masters Diploma , you must already hold either an NQF or QCF NARIC Level 5 Diploma, or a Foundation Degree qualification. If you are a UK or EEA student you will need to apply for the Diploma and the Masters programmes separately.

To apply for a place on our Pre-Masters Diploma, you’ll need to complete a BPP application form. While there are no formal deadlines, due to high demand we recommend you apply as soon as you are ready.
