Description: The Finance for Tourism and
Hospitality syllabus will equip you with the knowledge
and skills to interpret, understand and explain basic financial
information within a hospitality industry context.
It starts with double entry bookkeeping, continues with
accounting for credit transactions and accounting for cash,
discusses forms of payment and security and the various types of
costs incurred, notably overheads and labour costs, concluding with
the exercise of control over costs.
The Study Guide, which has been reviewed and endorsed by CTH,
works logically and methodically through the CTH 2009 syllabus,
following the syllabus order.
It explains the concepts clearly and provides ample opportunity
for practice of the techniques. Chapters start with the objectives
and topic list to put the material into context and they conclude
with a diagrammatic summary to consolidate learning and a set of
self-test questions to test understanding. The book concludes
with a past CTH real exam, forming a full practice exam for
students to attempt. A marking guide is also supplied.
The front pages of the Study Guide contain features such as tips
on how to study and an explanation of the exam structure.
Note that this Study Guide is also directly relevant to the CTH
Diploma in Tourism Management's Finance for the Travel Industry
syllabus, and you can therefore use it to study for that paper.
