The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) was founded in 1913 as the Welfare Workers’ Association (WWA). It is the professional body for those involved in the management and development standards of people.


Membership

With over 100,000 members, the CIPD is the largest body of personnel and development specialists in the world.


Current Syllabus

The Professional Development Scheme (PDS) includes four main areas of study: Leadership and Management, People Management and Development, Applied Personnel and Development, and Specialist and Generalist Electives. This leads to graduate membership of the CIPD. Tutorials are attended every four to five weeks for a total programme duration of three years. Assessment is through examinations, skills assessments and written assignments.
