The Law Summer School
BPP’s Summer School is designed both for those who have a general interest in the law and would like more information on how the law works and for those who are considering starting a career in law. If you are thinking of studying to become a lawyer, the Summer School provides an ideal ‘taster’ of what your studies will involve as well as wealth of careers information.

Who should study on the programme ?

Non-law graduates considering a career in law and requiring a taster before committing to a full programme.

Anyone who has an interest in the law and how the law works in action.

International students who wish to study a short programme in law in London in order to gain credits towards their degrees in their own countries.
What is the programme structure?
This programme covers the fundamentals of the English legal system.

The law of obligations (contract and tort)

Daily specialist careers session (optional)
Programme delivery
Modules are delivered mainly through lectures and tutorials. Classes are lively and interactive, normally held between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. One hour is reserved between 4pm and 5pm for you to attend an optional daily careers session.
Materials
To help you make the most of your time at the Summer School, we will provide all the materials you will need for your studies. You will also have use of the extensive resources of our Law Library. The cost of these materials are included in the programme fees.
Staffing
All programmes on the Summer School are taught by BPP staff and are qualified solicitors, barristers or legal academics.
Location
The Summer School will take place at BPP’s Law Schools in Leeds, London (Waterloo) and Manchester.
Social events
The Summer School includes social activities. Details of these social events will be available nearer to the start of the Summer School. Some of these optional events are included in the costs of the Summer School and others are optional and paid for separately.

There are limited places available on the Summer School so early application is advised.
Academic credits
International students attending the Summer School may be able to claim credits for their degree courses at home. You should check with your own university or college, prior to studying on the Summer School, how many credits you would receive. We will be happy to provide your university or college with any necessary information to assist them with this.

What are the programme fees?
The fees for the 2007 Summer School are £385.
Any student who attends the Summer School and subsequently registers for any full-time or part-time GDL, LPC, BVC at BPP Law School with be reimbursed 20% of their Summer School fees. A deposit of £50 is payable on acceptance of a place on the Summer School. The remainder of fees are payable by 1st July 2007. The fees include all teaching, course materials and social events. Optional social events and accommodation are not included in the programme fees.
