Apprenticeships are vocational qualifications that are related to tasks carried out in the workplace. A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) mainly involves producing work-based evidence, which is gathered from tasks completed at work to create an accounting portfolio.

The government, via the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), provides funding for apprenticeships which includes AAT. Apprenticeships are available for Foundation, Intermediate and Technician levels.
