1 CPA exam subjects

There are four stages of examinations within the CPA
syllabus:
2 Registration with CPA
To register as a CPA student you must register with the CPA
Institute directly.
CPA exams are held in April and August each year.
April exams - register as a student with the CPA Institute by
1st December (of the previous year).
August exams - register as a student with the CPA Institute by 1st
June.

3 Applying for exemptions with CPA
Holders of recognised qualifications (post grad, degree,
diploma, certificate, accounting technician etc.) may be entitled
to various exemptions from the CPA exams. All
exemptions are granted on an individual basis and on a
subject-for-subject basis to students. A pass mark of 50% must be
achieved in the relevant subjects to be eligible for exemptions. A

To confirm your exemption entitlements you must send your exam
result transcripts to Julia Haenig Education & Training
Department on +353 1 425 1023. Exemptions can only be
confirmed and granted upon receipt of original transcripts from
your college. Transcripts can be faced to +353 1 425
1001.

6 How many exams can I take at any one time
Progression rules
1. Students must complete examinations in Formation 1 before
attempting Formation 2, complete Formation 2 before attempting
Professional 1 and complete Professional 1 before attempting
Professional 2.
2. At Formation 1, Formation 2 and Professional 1 students are
required to sit all subjects within the stage at one sitting.
3. At Professional 2, students may split their subjects over 4
consecutive sittings within 2 years.
If the Formation 2, Professional 1 or Professional 2 exams are
not successfully completed within the permitted time frame,
students may not recommence or re-register with the Institute. For

7 Exam results
You will receive your April 2010 Examination Results in
June 2010.
You will receive your August 2010 examination results in October
2010.
8 Practical Experience
CPA students are required to complete a minimum of 3 years
relevant supervised training. CPA raining can be gained in
practice, in 'industry' or through a combination of both.
