1 The Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA)

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA) is one of the main Irish accountancy bodies with in excess of 5,000 members and students. The CPA designation is the most commonly used designation worldwide for professional accountants and the Institute’s qualification enjoys wide international recognition. Its current membership operates in Public Practice, Industry, Financial Services and the Public Sector and CPAs work in over 28 countries around the world.

 

2 Is CPA appropriate for me

CPA members and students work across a variety of roles in both practice and industry including sectors such as financial services, banking, manufacturing, construction, education and consultancy.  The CPA Institute is an independent body controlled in Ireland however CPA members work in over 28 countries worldwide!

 

3 Entry requirements

There are three main routes to entry in becoming a CPA.  You should be either of the following:

• A holder of a recognised degree, diploma, certificate accounting technician or professional level qualification
• A school leaver
• A mature student over twenty-five years of age
