Certificate in Business Accounting
What is the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting?
Providing a solid grounding in the basics of accounting and business skills, the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is a recognised qualification in its own right as well as an entry requirement to the CIMA Professional Qualification.
No qualifications are required to gain entry to the Certificate in Business Accounting and it really adds value to your career prospects and earning potential. Once you've passed the CIMA Certificate, you could earn, on average, £2,500 more than an unqualified trainee.
THE CIMA CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ACCOUNTING PAPERS
The CIMA Certificate is made up of 5 papers. They are:
- Paper C01 Fundamentals of Management Accounting
- Paper C02 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
- Paper C03 Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
- Paper C04 Fundamentals of Business Economics
- Paper C05 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law
All five papers are examined by Computer Based Assessment (CBA) and you must score 50% or more to pass each paper. CBAs can be sat on a weekly basis at BPP centres throughout the UK and Europe.
The average time taken to complete the CIMA Certificate level is one year, although it is possible to complete it in under 6 months with BPP!
WHAT ORDER SHOULD I SIT THE PAPERS IN?
BPP RECOMMENDATION
You have complete flexibility and can sit the papers in any order you like. However, it is advisable to sit paper C02 before attempting C01. CIMA have also suggested that it is preferable to sit either paper C03 or C04 early in your studies.
EXEMPTION POLICY
The following qualifications ensure you will be exempt from some or all of the Certificate papers.
- A degree that specialised in accountancy or business.
- The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Technician level.
- The Open University (OU) Certificate in Accountancy.
Any exemptions will be granted by CIMA when you register as a student. Therefore, it is important that you register with CIMA before commencing your studies with BPP to obtain your exemptions and avoid unnecessary work.
Please note that we advise students to carefully consider still attending courses they're exempt from. This is due to the later papers requiring an excellent understanding of Certificate level theory.
COMPUTER BASED ASSESSMENTS (CBAs)
CIMA introduced the innovative method of testing for the Certificate papers by CBA. Assessments are set and controlled by CIMA but can be sat at BPP. The regulations for, and the contents of, the assessment are set by CIMA.
More students have sat their CBAs with BPP than any other training provider.
BPP is a leading provider of CBAs. You must have a CIMA registration number before you can book a CBA. Book a CBA at your nearest centre or click here to book online.
