Fiona Boyle (nee Guy)
29 March 1973 – 17 April 2008
Committed tutor who genuinely put students first

Fiona was recognisable to many as one of BPP’s most highly regarded tutors both latterly in Glasgow and formerly in Bristol. She was a true professional, always expertly prepared and committed to delivering the best lectures and support she could to students who depended on her to pass their exams.

Her first contact with BPP was as a student. She studied CIMA as part of the graduate training scheme at Lloyds TSB where she made sure she passed her exams first time. She won 4th place in the world in the May 1998 CIMA strategic level papers. She was genuinely surprised to have achieved this as well as being typically modest and self deprecating of her own achievement.

Fiona joined the Bristol office in 1999 and fitted into BPP quickly and easily. She knew the ropes from her days as a student and accepted the high standards necessary to do well on the other side of the lectern. She established herself quickly as a tutor of choice for many students. She was soon teaching a wider variety of papers for a range of accountancy qualifications, initially preferring the numerical subjects but excelling at the narrative papers also before too long. She made rapid progress in teaching and supporting students successfully at the highest levels. Clients noticed too and fed back satisfied comments from their grateful students.

She married Stephen in 2000 and had her first child, Emma, in 2002. In 2005 they decided to return to Stephen’s home in Scotland where she continued her successful career with BPP in the Glasgow office. In later years, Fiona’s role as a wife and mother became increasingly important to her and gave her immense pleasure and satisfaction. Her second daughter, Chloe, was born in February 2008.

Fiona appreciated all the feedback she received. She would be delighted that her teaching had been effective and that her high standards had been reflected in the achievements of her students. ‘My class are so lovely’ would be a familiar refrain during breaks and at the end of the day.

Sadly, following a short but serious illness, Fiona passed away in April 2008. She will be missed by her students and colleagues throughout BPP.
