Library
Student Services encompasses all our student-facing support services within the University College. The overall aim of the department is to provide an outstanding service to our students and to do our very best to provide them with all the support they need in order to achieve success when they are with us, and to equip them for their future careers.
Across Student Services we look for people with the vision to develop new services to meet our students' changing needs, and the motivation to excel in whatever we do.
We look for people in the following areas:
- Student Advisor Team – a new team coming on board in late 2011, the student advisors will become the main point of contact for all non-academic queries, from the time a student accepts a place right through to graduation. They will have the expertise to be able to answer the majority of queries coming in, and where a query needs to go to a specialist team they will ensure the student receives a speedy and helpful response. The student advisors will have a key role in supporting our students and ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed.
- Student Support – a growing team which helps students set up and administer their own clubs and societies, provides an accommodation service, and in future may develop additional counselling services and support a new Student Association.
- Pro Bono Centre – the award-winning Pro Bono team provide students with opportunities to work on projects for the common good. For our law students this often gives them valuable experience as well, for example within our Legal Advice Clinics for the local community.
- As well as employed staff, many other members of BPP staff give up their own time to participate in projects with students.
- Careers Service – the careers team provide students with advice and support from the time they accept their place with us until a year after graduation. This could be in one-to-one sessions, by email or phone, through workshops and training and by developing online resources and guides. The team also offer mentoring schemes and are developing services for our new sites across the country.
- Library and Information Service – the library service provides students with the information resources they need to support their studies (whether online or in print), as well as maintaining study space for students to use when they are on-site, and an enquiry service to give students advice whenever they need it. Library managers also run regular training sessions for students and are developing more online training resources.
