Career
I was called to the Bar in 2003 and practised as a self-employed barrister at New Court Chambers in Newcastle until 2006. Throughout this time I specialised in criminal law, both prosecuting and defending in the Magistrates’ and Crown courts. I had a particularly strong practice in the youth courts and also acted as prosecuting counsel in a number of private prosecutions.
In 2006 I joined Eversheds as an employed barrister in their regulatory team. I specialised in defending individuals and companies charged with breaches of health and safety and environmental regulations, including workplace fatalities, disasters and public enquiries.
I joined BPP Law School in Leeds in 2009 as a Lecturer on the BPTC. I am now the Deputy Programme Leader and look after the part time BPTC programme in Leeds.
