BPP Professional Education has just signed a contract with British Telecom (BT) to provide AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Accountancy Apprenticeships.
BPP has been awarded funding by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to offer AAT Accountancy and AAT Payroll Administration Apprenticeships. AAT Accountancy Apprenticeships provide people with the skills they need to work as accounting technicians in the modern workplace.
Although BT is an existing client of BPP, the BT AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship is a new initiative. Initially in London only, the scheme will involve 14 students in total, 10 of which are funded through the Apprenticeships. BPP will be supplementing the work-based learning provided by BT through delivery of in-house training at BT’s premises.
The BT AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship gives apprentices on-the-job training whilst they earn a salary, plus enough time to study for qualifications and meet assessment commitments - without losing pay. The training is directly linked to the career they have chosen, gaining practical experience in the workplace, backed up by high quality professional education delivered by BPP.
Nicola Boyle, London AAT Courses Director at BPP said: “This is the first training programme for many years of its kind at BPP. BPP specialist tutors will deliver excellent tuition together with quality study materials in-house at BT’s premises. Students enrolled on the BT Apprenticeship scheme in partnership with BPP will receive an outstanding level of support, as well as the very best AAT training available – our pass rates consistently exceed the AAT worldwide average. We are delighted to be involved in a project where we are able to provide our first class AAT training to British Telecom employees - this is a fantastic opportunity for BPP to help build a skilled and successful workforce for one of Britain’s largest household names.”
Mark Baldwin, Senior Operations Manager at BT Payment Services added: “For some time we have been looking at opportunities to increase the professionalisation of our Payment Services unit in Colindale. Having opted for Accountancy based qualifications, we are delighted to have chosen BPP as our partner to deliver, in our own premises, AAT training for our people. The quality of service that we have received to date in setting up the training has been first class and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with BPP.”
